Two Great Ways to Earn Money Producing Podcasts

Podcasting can even be used to make money over the Internet. If you're wondering how some people are able to turn their podcasts into revenue-generating machines, you will be surprised that it isn't as complicated as it sounds. However, it does involve a great deal of hard work, some luck, and  rapport with your subscribers.

There are a few ways to make money using your podcast. Here are two of them that may apply to your podcast. Each of them can be used to make your hobby, or your podcast, worth its weight in gold.

1. Corporate sponsors. Your Podcast may have increased in popularity so much that major sponsors have begun to perk their ears. There have been many popular podcasts that have gained substantial revenue from commercial sponsors. These commercial sponsors will ask you to insert their ads in your podcast. In exchange for this, they will pay you quite a good amount for airtime.

But how do you find commercial sponsors? First of all you have to make sure that your podcast is gaining in popularity. If your podcast has a listening audience that is substantial, the commercial sponsors themselves might come and look for you. But if you do know a few people, and your podcasts are pretty popular, you can approach them seeking commercial sponsorship.

This is a great way to make money using your podcast. Revenues from commercial sponsors are nothing to laugh at since they do rake in quite a bit.

2. Donations and Subscriptions. Your podcast could also earn through donations. Popular podcasts let people download episodes for free. You could however, ask these people for donations. And if your syndication is popular enough, even tiny donations from these people could amount to a great amount.

The only problem with this type of revenue earning is that it doesn't come in as predictably as other means. However, if you have a lot of subscribers, it could turn out to be a very substantial amount. Also, setting up a donation page on your web site, is easier than looking for a corporate sponsor. Anyone can do this.

Another option is to make your podcasts subscription-based, meaning that people have to pay to download your podcasts. The downside to this method is that it could create a decrease in the popularity of your podcast, since not everyone has access to your shows, and it may inhibit new listeners from coming on board.

You could, alternately, post some of your content for free, and leave some of your content for subscription. The free content serves to drum up interest in your podcast, leading people to subscribe to other episodes out of curiosity and interest.
