RSS - Really Simple
Syndication
|
RSS is a
technology that formats syndication
(distribution) of content over the Internet. It
seems more complicated that it really is, but
it can take a while to catch on. Once you do
catch on, the concept seems easy.
RSS is basically a way that
Internet users can readily be updated when new
information is published on a site. Blogs,
newswires, and other sources of information
send out their content through an
RSS feed. Internet users have
feed reader programs that gather the feeds from
sources the user has subscribed to, and format
it for easy reading.
You can easily gather what you want to read
through your feed reader, and you can easily
distribute what you want others to read through
your feed. Most blogs automatically have
RSS feeds.
Blogs and websites can be configured as feed
readers, displaying the information in selected
RSS feeds on their
webpages.
